William D. White
William D. White, born on December 21, 1947, graduated from Crestline High School in 1966, where he then went on to serve in the United States Marine Corp for three years. While serving, White attended several specialty schools including Vietnamese Language School, and MCI, Combat Intelligence and earned several awards including the Navy Marine Corp Medal for Heroism, Bronze Star with Combat V, two Purple Hearts, National Defense, Vietnam Service Medal with four stars, Vietnam Campaign medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Rifle Sharp Shooter Badge, Presidential Citation, Combat Action Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal.
After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corp at the level of Sergeant E-5, White worked several positions over the years including driving for Brandt Distributing, owner of Main Street Wine Store and employee at Ohio Brass and the Crestline Fire Department. White currently works for UPS in Mansfield.
While progressing in his professional career, White found time to give back to the community as a volunteer fire fighter, coach, and member of the DAV, VFW and American Legion. He was also a founding member of the Crestline War Memorial Committee and spends his time sharing his Vietnam experiences with students in the area.
Even at the conclusion of his military service, White is still receiving awards, but this time from his peers in the community. These include Circle of Honor for more than 25 years of service and the Safe Driving Award for 28 years from UPS.
